Community Meeting for Liquor License Transfer at 4114 Main Street

On January 9, residents and business owners gathered at Overcast Skate Shop to learn about a new bar and restaurant that is seeking a liquor transfer at 4114 Main Street (currently Tea Bags). Sarah Shaffer, the owner of the building at 4114 Main Street and the owner of the proposed bar/restaurant, gave a short presentation to the community and answered questions from attendees. Community members asked about the proposed bar/restaurant and housing that would go on the upper floors of the building.

Shaffer said that her vision for the restaurant/bar was a comfortable, approachable and affordable cocktail bar with simple yet well made sandwiches. The facade of the building will be updated by removing the wood to expose the brick underneath and she plans to add a large window in the front. Inside, the bar length will be reduced and tables will be added and sound proofing added. Shaffer is working with a contractor to have the renovation of the business and apartments above done within two months and a dumpster for the construction onsite one week. The bar would be non-smoking.

Shaffer made many assurances that the property would be well maintained, affordable, and welcoming to the community. She also said that she hoped to hire locally if she could find someone with the right experience. After the meeting the attendees said they approved of the proposed bar as presented by Shaffer.
